Ambon, 28 November 2025 — The Main Hall of the Ambon Training and Community Empowerment Center for Villages and Disadvantaged Regions (BPPMDDT Ambon) became a collaborative forum for academics, government institutions, and village representatives during the Dissemination of Digital Communication Planning: Challenges and Transformation of Village Empowerment in Ambon City, organized by Communication Science students of the 2023 Cohort, Class A, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Pattimura.


The event was officially opened by the Head of the Communication Science Study Program, Mr. Ronald Alfredo, S.Sos., M.I.Kom, who highlighted the importance of strengthening communication capacity in village development, especially in the digital era. According to him, villages must not only run programs but also establish effective communication strategies to ensure that information, innovations, and services are well-delivered to communities.


Head of BPPMDDT Ambon, Mr. Ery Kurniawan, S.H, delivered a welcoming remark expressing appreciation for the students’ initiative in connecting communication theory with real-world village empowerment in Maluku. He emphasized that digital transformation is a key driver for improving the quality of village services and BUM Desa operations. “Collaborations like this provide us with new perspectives on how effective communication can strengthen program implementation,” he noted.


The dissemination session featured two presenters. The first was Communication Science lecturer Mrs. Aksa Noya, S.Sos., M.A, who explained the fundamentals of communication planning, its significance, and the five-step strategic design. She emphasized that communication planning is not merely message delivery but a structured process starting from research to reporting.


The second presenter, Pristianto Tanan, a Communication Science student, delivered findings on the practical implementation of the five-step communication model (Research, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation, and Reporting) based on research conducted at BPPMDDT Ambon, the Maluku Provincial Community and Village Empowerment Office (DPMD), and three partner villages: Latta, Galala, and Poka. His analysis illustrated how structured communication enhances program clarity, strengthens stakeholder coordination, and optimizes village empowerment processes.


The event was attended by all parties involved in the research, including BPPMDDT Ambon, DPMD Maluku, and representatives from Latta, Galala, and Poka villages. The discussion generated several recommendations on strengthening digital communication strategies for village development, from producing inclusive content to utilizing digital platforms as tools for community education.
